Public Presentation

Display information screens on TVs, monitors, and digital signage without requiring login.

What is Public Presentation?

Public Presentation lets you show HMI pages on public displays like lobby TVs, monitoring walls, or kiosks. The pages automatically rotate at intervals you set, perfect for:

  • Building lobby information displays
  • Factory floor monitoring screens
  • Meeting room dashboards
  • Retail digital signage

Getting Started

Creating Your First Presentation

  1. Click the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner
  2. Go to SettingsPublic Presentation Settings
  3. Click the Add button
  4. Fill in:
    • Name: Give it a descriptive name (e.g., "Lobby Display")
    • Code: A number that becomes part of the URL (e.g., 14)
    • Interval: How long each page shows before switching (in milliseconds, so 30000 = 30 seconds)
    • Enable Animation: Turn on for smooth transitions between pages
  5. Click Save

Adding Pages to Your Presentation

  1. Find your presentation in the list and click on it to expand
  2. Click Add Page
  3. Select which content pages to include
  4. Set the Order number (pages show in order from lowest to highest)
  5. Click Save

Repeat to add more pages. The presentation will cycle through all enabled pages automatically.

Viewing Your Presentation

  1. Click the Preview button (eye icon) next to your presentation
  2. A new browser tab opens with your presentation running
  3. Copy this URL for your display devices: http://your-server:5000/present/14 (replace 14 with your code)
tip

Set this URL as the homepage on your display device so it starts automatically when powered on.

Adjusting Video Display

If videos appear cropped or have unwanted black bars, you can adjust how they fit:

Changing Video Fit Mode

  1. Go to SettingsVideo Settings
  2. Find and select the video you want to adjust
  3. Look for the Video Fit dropdown
  4. Choose from:
    • Cover - Fills the entire area, may crop edges (default)
    • Contain - Shows the complete video, may show black bars
    • Fill - Stretches to fit exactly
  5. Click Save

When to use each mode:

  • Use Contain when you need to see the entire video content
  • Use Cover when you want edge-to-edge display and slight cropping is acceptable

Testing Without Live Data

If you want to test your presentation before connecting to live data systems:

  1. Go to SettingsGeneral Settings
  2. Find Enable Demo Mode and turn it ON
  3. Click Save

Demo Mode shows simulated data that updates automatically, letting you see how your presentation looks and functions.

Common Questions

How do I change how long each page displays?

  1. Go to SettingsPublic Presentation Settings
  2. Click on your presentation
  3. Change the Interval value (in milliseconds)
    • 15000 = 15 seconds
    • 30000 = 30 seconds
    • 60000 = 1 minute
  4. Click Save

The pages aren't rotating automatically

Check these settings:

  • Make sure Interval is not set to 0
  • Verify the presentation is Enabled
  • Confirm each content page is also Enabled

Videos aren't playing

  1. Go to SettingsVideo Settings
  2. Check that the video URL is correct
  3. Try the Preview button to test the video
  4. Make sure the video source is Enabled

The menu button doesn't work on the settings page

Try refreshing the page with Ctrl+F5 (or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) to clear your browser cache.

Real-time data isn't showing

Two options:

  1. Enable Demo Mode for testing (see "Testing Without Live Data" above)
  2. Contact your administrator to verify the data connection is configured

Content Ideas

Mix different types of content for variety:

  • Video pages - Company videos, product showcases
  • Data pages - Real-time numbers, gauges, charts
  • Banner pages - News, announcements, messages
  • Summary pages - Key metrics and highlights

Display Tips

  • Use large text that's readable from a distance
  • Keep text brief - viewers can't read paragraphs quickly
  • Use charts and gauges to show data visually
  • Test your presentation from where viewers will actually be standing
